 Employee monitoring is the act of the activity of the employee in the organization. Most of the time this monitoring activity is carried out to track the performance, to avoid legal liability, to safeguard trade secrets and to address security interests.

  • Have a detailed discussion with employees
  • Ask for a documented track record of the work they do.
  • Keep Track of their work progress


3. Monitoring Online Activity:


This is one of the main sections to be checked out. Access to Internet everywhere often distracts the employees to a great extent.


  • Go for a reliable monitoring software
  • Put a block to inappropriate websites that might prove to be harmful and misleading
  • Keep regular checks on the Internet activities of the employees
  • Ensure all this is done in compliance with the law.


4. Establishing other methods of Monitoring:


Various other methods are available to ensure that employees are monitored perfectly.


  • Official Phone Conversations might be recorded
  • Video / Electronic Surveillance might be setup.
  • A GPRS like concept could be installed to check employees location (mostly used for people whose work involves outdoor travelling)


Apart from all these methods, regular meeting with employees, briefing them about their roles and responsibilities plays a vital role. This will increase the relationship between the employer and the employee. Even in case monitoring and surveillance is in forcer, employees should be given a sense of job security and be assured of a safe work environment.


Employee Monitoring need not be just to jot down mistakes and problematic areas but at times also proves to realize a person’s real potential.  Few employees do not blow up their work and might lack appreciation from top management. These monitoring practices bring out the good and bad of the employees equally and help in eliminating poor performance and boost the productivity of the company as a whole.
